This new concept is coming to malaga and will consist of large drones that can carry up to five passengers and a pilot for short journeys like for example from Malaga to Marbella. They will be 100% electric and will be silent.
Before 2030 air taxis will be flying over the Costa del Sol (Malaga-Marbella-Estepona-Sotogrande) where the company Crisalion has recently been implemented.
Crisalion recently presented its first prototype at the Aeronautics Museum in Madrid, and also in Malaga, ready to fly safely and efficiently, collaborating with iJet, a private flight operator based in the capital of the Costa del Sol, and has been officially approved by the Spanish Ministry of Science.
Aero taxi in Malaga: what it will be like to fly in one of these?
This electric aircraft is a pioneering European prototype for urban and intercity passenger and cargo transport and it is expected to ‘redefine short air travel’ in the next few years.
The agreement has just been made official,’ says Oscar Lara, COO of Spanish airline Crisalion. ‘We are very proud to have signed an agreement that has just been made official and reflects important plans by both Crisalion and iJet to establish routes connecting Malaga and the surrounding area, and ten Integrity aircraft from “Crisalion Mobility” have been aquired for that matter.
This new electric aircraft capable of transporting five people and the pilot at about 130 kilometres with a speed of 180 km/h, could for example provide a 20-minute trip from Malaga International Airport to Marbella with zero emissions and low noise levels.
According to Óscar Lara, ‘the incorporation of vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOLs) will have a significant impact on the mobility of cities by opening up the third dimension to a large part of the population for their daily journeys’.
